Stud forest

Stud forest

Pickelallee takes you into the neighbouring stud forest. Around 200 hectares in size, the woodland is made up of 60 percent deciduous and 40 percent evergreen trees. This area used to be pasture land for the stud’s horses. The trenches dug from the Dosse still show the flow of the waterways where the horses used to drink. Forst Brandenburg designed today’s relaxation forest, complete with cycling, hiking and riding trails, back in 2008.

Sendenplatz square is located in the stud forest, just 100 metres from here. It has a purple beech and a boulder to commemorate the son of the former state stable master, Werner Freiher von Senden (1912 to 1921), who was fatally wounded at the beginning of the First World War aged just 18. You can find out more about the history of Freiherr von Senden on the info board at Sendenplatz.
