Poesie & Poetin
The statue of mare Poesie and her daughter Poetin represents the most successful family of mares at the Neustadt stud: the internationally renowned ‘P’ line. It dates back to a mare called Pauline, born in 1937 and bought by the stud in 1947 in order to restart things after Neustadt’s horses were moved to Russia following the end of the Second World War. Poesie, a mare that made history with her highly successful offspring, also traces back to Pauline. Her daughter Poetin I was the national champion and world champion, and Poesie had five sons named Samba Hit I to V that went on to be used for breeding as well as a Quaterback, the Neustadt stud’s flagship stallion who sadly died from complications of colic. Quaterback was not just the national champion of young dressage horses but also a top sire with exceptional qualities that currently ranks fifth among the world’s best dressage sires (WBFSH).
Peace Oak
The peace oak was planted in 1871 to honour the peace accord in the Franco-German War. The granite stone in front is engraved with ‘Peace 10th May 1871’ and commemorates the founding of the German Empire.
Trakehnerschuppen shed
Not far from the Dosse bridge, the wooden Trakehnerschuppen shed was built very hurriedly during the First World War in 1914. At the time, 583 horses from the Prussian stud at Trakehnen had to be evacuated and kept at Neustadt. Even today, the Trakehnerschuppen shed is used to keep the stud’s mares.
